The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday relaxed the bail condition imposed on Nikhil Sosale, Marketing Head of IPL cricket team RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) which stands embroiled in the deadly Bengaluru stampede,.

Sosale was arrested on June 6 in connection with the case and was granted bail after 6 days, subject to condition of not leaving Bengaluru.

He now sought relaxation of this condition, stating that he has to travel within the country for work.

Senior Advocate Sandesh J Chouta appearing for Sosale informed the Court that a similar condition was imposed on other accused and it stands relaxed in two separate petitions filed by M/s DNA Entertainment Networks Private Limited and Karnataka State Cricket Association.

The Court on going through the records noted that Sosale is required to frequently travel for work across the country and he undertakes to provide the investigating officer all travel related details.

As such, it directed “As undertaking is given that the petitioner will provide all relevant details to the investigating officer before travelling. It is expedient to allow the application. The condition is relaxed subject to that petitioner shall inform the Investigating officer before leaving the city and also inform on his arrival.

Significant to note that Sosale was also asked to surrender his passport for grant of bail. This condition has not been modified, thereby implying he cannot leave the country.
