The Madhya Pradesh High Court has disposed of the plea filed by the President of the Madhya Pradesh High Court Bar Association challenging the blocking of his WhatsApp accounts.

The bench of Justice Vishal Mishra disposed of the petition after the counsel for WhatsApp submitted that the accounts were 'made functional now'.

"Counsel appearing for the respondent no. 2 submits that both WhatsApp account numbers of the petitioner are restored and WhatsApp is made functional now. Under these circumstances, no further directions are required in the matter. Accordingly, the petition stands disposed off".

According to the petition, the petitioner has been using WhatsApp for several years as his primary business and professional handle. The said number was unilaterally blocked by WhatsApp. Despite submitting an application to the grievance mechanism, the issue was not resolved.

In the previous hearing, the court granted time to the Union's counsel to seek instructions in the matter. The Court also directed the petitioner to forward a copy of the plea to the counsel appearing for Meta Inc., which owns and operates WhatsApp.

For Petitioner: Senior Advocate Sanjay Agrawal with Advocate Ghuncha Rasool

For Union: Advocate Sachin Jain

For WhatsApp: Advocates Swati Agarwal, Vaarish K. Sawlani and Abhijeet Awasthi

For Met: Advocate Satyam Shukla
