Under the aegis of the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of the Punjab and Haryana High Court successfully conducted a Refresher Training Programme for its empanelled mediators in five batches from May 6 to May 23, 2026, at the Chandigarh Judicial Academy.

The programme was aimed at enhancing the professional skills, ethical standards, and practical competencies of mediators associated with the High Court's mediation centre. The sessions covered a wide range of topics including evolving trends in mediation, recent legal developments, ethics and confidentiality, communication and negotiation techniques, drafting of settlement agreements, and methods for facilitating amicable dispute resolution.

A key highlight of the training was the participation of senior trainers and mediation experts from across the country. These experts shared practical insights, best practices, and experiential knowledge, making the sessions highly interactive and enriching for participants.

The programme also incorporated practical components such as role plays, simulation exercises, group discussions, and case study analyses to provide hands-on exposure to real-life mediation scenarios.

Special emphasis was placed on party-centric and interest-based mediation approaches, in line with the Mediation Act, 2023 and contemporary judicial trends promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms.

The training concluded with positive feedback from participants, who appreciated the programme's practical orientation and the guidance provided by experienced resource persons.

The initiative reaffirmed the commitment of the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of the Punjab and Haryana High Court towards capacity building of mediators and strengthening effective dispute resolution mechanisms.
