Legal Awareness: Karnataka SLSA Organises First Ever State-Level Virtual Moot Court Competition

As part of the Pan India Awareness and Outreach Campaign, the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) organised the first ever State Level Virtual Moot Court Competition in association with Karnataka State Bar Council Law Academy and Technical facilitation by School of Law, Christ (Deemed to be University) on November 8-9.

As per a press note issued by the authority, a total of 12 teams from various law colleges in the state were shortlisted for the moot court competition.

The preliminary rounds were judged by Judicial Officers and eminent advocates from the Bar.

The semi-final round was judged by Ramachandra D. Huddar, Director, Karnataka Judicial Academy and Shashikiran Shetty, designated Senior Advocate of the Karnataka High Court.

The final round of the moot court was presided over by five sitting Judges of the High Court. The judges included Justice S.Sujatha, Justice B.Veerappa, Justice P.S.Dinesh Kumar, Justice K.Somashekar and Justice V Srishananda.

The mooters presented their brief and arguments on the problem regarding the grey areas of Karnataka Victim Compensation Scheme 2011.

The School of Law, Christ (Deemed to be University) emerged winners and JSS Law College, Mysuru, emerged runners-up in the competition.

In the memorials submissions CMR University, Bengaluru secured first prize and JSS Law College, Mysuru secured second prize.

Justice B. Veerappa, who is also the Executive Chairman of KSLSA congratulated the winning teams. He also acknowledged the support rendered by Karnataka State Bar Council Law Academy, Advocates and the technical facilitation by School of Law Christ (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru in organizing the event.

The student community is called upon to inculcate Legal Service Culture and render their service to help the marginalized and downtrodden sections of society.
