NLU Delhi, CIIPC & DPIIT Announce 2nd Edition of Vidhi Pragati National IP Moot Court Competition

The Centre for Innovation, Intellectual Property and Competition (CIIPC) and the IPR Chair at National Law University Delhi, in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has announced the 2nd Edition of Vidhi Pragati: National IP Moot Court Competition.

The competition will be held offline from 6th to 8th February 2026 at the campus of National Law University Delhi. Vidhi Pragati aims to strengthen students' advocacy and research skills while deepening their understanding of Intellectual Property law, enforcement mechanisms, and contemporary legal challenges.

Theme: Trademark and Copyright

The theme for this edition, “Trademark and Copyright,” highlights the growing significance of brand identity and creative expression in modern commercial and digital ecosystems. The moot proposition invites participants to engage with intricate legal issues surrounding ownership, brand distinctiveness, and protection of original works in an increasingly digital landscape.

About the Organizers

· National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi): Established in 2008, NLU Delhi is one of India's premier legal institutions and is consistently ranked 2nd in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). The university is committed to bridging the gap between academic legal education and real-world legal practice.

· Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT): Operating under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, it promotes industrial development, internal trade, and entrepreneurship through investor-friendly policies, ease of doing business reforms, support for startups and innovation, protection of intellectual property rights, and strengthening of logistics and e-commerce to foster inclusive economic growth and enhance India's global competitiveness.

· CIIPC & IPR Chair: These institutions focus on research and policy engagement at the intersection of innovation, intellectual property, and competition law, and actively contribute to strengthening IP education and public discourse in India.

Competition Format

Following a rigorous memorial qualification round, 16 teams from across the country have been selected to compete in the oral rounds from 6th to 8th February 2026, where the competition will be in full swing.

Awards and Prizes

Participants will compete for a total prize pool exceeding Rs. 3,00,000, with awards distributed as follows:

· Winning Team: ₹1,00,000

· 1st Runner-Up: ₹75,000

· 2nd Runner-Up: ₹50,000

· Best Memorial: ₹50,000

· Best Researcher: ₹25,000

· Best Speaker: ₹25,000
