Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, under its DPIIT-IPR Chair initiative, inaugurated a ten-day National Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Emerging IP Jurisprudence and Evolving Trends of IP Teaching & Research.”

The programme aims to provide an academic platform for faculty members, researchers, and professionals to engage with contemporary developments in intellectual property (IP) law and pedagogy.

The inaugural lecture was delivered by Mr. Antony Taubman, Director of the Intellectual Property Division at the World Trade Organization (WTO).

In his address, Taubman highlighted the growing significance of intellectual property in shaping global trade, innovation ecosystems, and knowledge economies. He emphasised the need for adaptive legal frameworks and stronger academic engagement to address emerging challenges in IP governance, particularly in the context of evolving technologies and cross-border regulatory dynamics. He also examined the convergence and divergence between WIPO and WTO frameworks from an international law perspective.

Earlier, Prof. Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor of HNLU, in his opening remarks, underscored the transition of innovation into the marketplace and the importance of understanding the international IP regime complex.

The FDP comprises 20 sessions of 90 minutes each, scheduled from April 6 to April 16. It has been curated by Dr. Ankit Singh, IP Chair In-Charge at HNLU, along with his team, and features leading IP experts from academia, the bar, and the bench.

The programme has received over 70 registrations from law faculty, researchers, and industry professionals.
