Confederation Of Law Teachers (COLATE) To Host International Conference On Law & Technology In Bengaluru
The Confederation of Law Teachers (COLATE), in association with Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi, National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, and M. S. Ramaiah College of Law, Bengaluru, is set to organise a two-day International Conference on “Intersection of Law and Technology: Impact on Legal Education, Legal Profession, and Justice Administration” on April 25–26, 2026, at Ramaiah College of Law, Bengaluru.
The conference aims to bring together academicians, legal practitioners, and policymakers to deliberate on the evolving interface between law and technology and its implications for legal education, the legal profession, and justice administration.
The inaugural session is scheduled to feature Justice Dr. V. Gopala Gowda, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, who will deliver the inaugural address. Prof. Dr. C. Basavaraju, Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka State Law University, will attend as the Chief Guest.
The conference will comprise multiple plenary sessions addressing key themes such as the impact of technology on legal relations, digital constitutionalism, and interdisciplinary legal research. Speakers, including Senior Advocate Mohan V. Katarki and Prof. Dr. Shashikala Gurpur, are expected to share insights on how technological advancements are reshaping legal systems and research methodologies.
Sessions will also focus on the role of artificial intelligence in legal education and practice, covering areas such as AI-driven legal research, transformation of clinical legal education, and integration of technology in curriculum design.
Another key segment of the conference will examine the impact of technology on the legal profession and the justice delivery system, including discussions on AI in legal practice, access to justice, and the scope and limitations of technology in judicial decision-making.
The second day will feature discussions on regulatory and policy frameworks, internationalisation of legal education, and comparative perspectives on AI tools in legal research. The conference will also include technical sessions, a panel discussion, and a valedictory session addressing the broader implications of technology on legal education and governance.
