In what seems to be an offshoot of the unprecedented drama that transpired at the Supreme Court on Friday, the Apex Court has now issued a circular barring oral mentioning of cases before anybody else except for the Chief Justice of India.

This restriction has, however, been placed only on matters which are not yet assigned/ listed before any other Bench.

The Circular seems to have been issued after Advocate Prashant Bhushan had mentioned a case before Justice J. Chelameswar and the matter was subsequently listed. The Chief Justice had then stepped in and the rest, as they say, is history.
