Senior Advocate Menaka Guruswamy Elected To Rajya Sabha, First MP From LGBT Community
Senior Advocate Menaka Guruswamy has been elected to the Rajya Sabha on a ticket by the All India Trinamool Congress.
Guruswamy, a renowned lawyer and constitutional expert, thus has become the first member from the LGBTQ community to be elected as a Member of Parliament.
Apart from Guruswamy, the AITC candidates Rajeev Kumar, former West Bengal DGP, Babul Supriyo and Koel Mallick also got elected.
Guruswamy has been appearing for the State of West Bengal and the AITC in several prominent cases, including the recent SIR and the IPAC-ED raid matters.
