Goyal: They are coming by trains.

Justice Chandrachud: Tell us one thing, for Delhi’s production, is it not possible to have. A steady cycle of production of 150 MT for Delhi so that there is a buffer so that there is no shortage of supplies ?

Goyal: Recent failure of supply, nobody could see that coming because that happened at the last moment. But, now we have reached a stage with oxygen coming from Gujarat and other places.

Justice Chandrachud: How are they coming ? Locally procured ?

Goyal: Officials from highest levels have been brought in for this purpose at the best possible extent. When Delhi HC observed that Central Govt should take more of a lead to help Delhi, we made a special group specially for Delhi. We are exclusively looking at what can be done.

Goyal: Because of shortage of containers, only a bit of the stock is being brought in. From Odisha or Durgapur/Jamshedpur, we need to have a system of continuous trains running. This detailed planning has been done.

Goyal: Everyday extraordinary efforts are being made on war footing. Day before yesterday, Delhi has been getting additional oxygen from Gujarat which is outside the allocation. What happened is that shortage of containers is the main crunch. The production is not the problem.

Justice Chandrachud: We are also in the city. We are also helpless. We have been on the phone. We can only imagine what the citizens are going through.

Justice Chandrachud: Which is the best way you can ensure that our order of 700 is complied with.

Sr. Adv. Krishnan Venugopal: People in Delhi are dying because hospitals are not admitting.

2021-05-05 08:19 GMT

Justice Chandrachud: We are trying to find a way. Now tell us, we have passed an order for 700, we will review that. We want to analyse what was done in a large metropolis like Mumbai and how it can be emulated, and we are answerable to citizens of Delhi.
