Will Set Up Fast Track Courts For Paper Leak Cases : PM Says Amid Student Protests

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced on X(formerly Twitter) that the government will set up fast-track Courts for timely prosecution in cases of paper-leaks in India. 

Emphasising that the welfare of young generation is paramount, he said that the government will ensure stringent punishment is imposed on perpetrators responsible for paper leaks. 

Via X, PM Modi tweeted: "Nothing is more important than the welfare and future of our youth! We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks. Have directed the concerned authorities and officials to take all necessary steps in this regard. This continues our series of steps for safeguarding the interests of students. Those who try to harm the future of our youth will not be spare."

The development comes in the backdrop of ongoing students' protest raising issues of recent NEET paper leak and chronic irregularities in the entrance examinations. The students have demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. 

It may also be noted that the Parliament had enacted The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 in order to curb these issues.
