The Ministry of Law and Justice has notified the appointment of Judicial Officer Chaitali Chatterjee (Das) as a judge of the Calcutta High Court. 

The notification states:

In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Smt. Chaitali Chatterjee (Das) to be an Additional Judge of the Calcutta High Court for a period of two years with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office. 

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the elevation of Chatterjee in January last year. 

The Calcutta High Court currently functions with 43 judges, against its sanctioned strength of 72.
