Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal was sworn-in as Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court on Monday (September 7).

The oath of office was administered by Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde.

The Central Government had notified Justice Agrawal's appointment as Chief Justice on Saturday. The Supreme Court Collegium had made the recommendation on August 31.

The recommendation came amidst letters written by Supreme Court judge Justice Sandeep Mehta to the Chief Justice of India raising serious complaints against Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, who was then the Acting Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court. The lawyers of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association had earlier decided to abstain from work till September 5, demanding the appointment of a regular Chief Justice.

Previously, Justice Agrawal was appointed to perform the duties of Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court pursuant to retirement of outgoing Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha.
