The National Law Institute University Bhopal (NLIU) has announced that its team has emerged as Runners-Up at the South Asia Regional Rounds of the prestigious Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition, 2026, thereby securing qualification for the International Rounds in Oxford.
The team comprised Harris Ahmad, Kanishk Goyal, Pranav Goel, Shubh Agarwal, Prithvika S, and Vibodh Singh, who demonstrated exceptional advocacy skills and legal acumen throughout the competition.
Established in 2008 by the Programme in Comparative Media Law & Policy at the University of Oxford, and now conducted under the aegis of the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights (Faculty of Law, University of Oxford), the competition is widely regarded as one of the world's most prestigious moots in media law.
The moot challenges participants to engage in comparative research across national, regional, and international legal frameworks, addressing cutting-edge issues concerning media law, freedom of expression, and emerging digital challenges. The competition hosts seven regional rounds globally, culminating in the highly selective International Rounds held in Oxford. Teams from jurisdictions including Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Lebanon, the Philippines, Serbia, Trinidad and Tobago, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States participate in the final stages.
The NLIU team, comprising second-year students from the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.) programmes, delivered an outstanding performance during the South Asia Rounds, earning their place among the world's top teams.
This achievement further strengthens NLIU Bhopal's legacy of excellence in international mooting and underscores the institution's growing prominence in specialized fields such as media law, technology regulation, and freedom of expression.
