RGNUL: National Conference On Right To Information: Law, Policy And Governance [19th November 2022]

The Centre for Advanced Studies in Labour Welfare (CASLW), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law in collaboration with Punjab State Information Commission organised one-day National Conference on Right to Information: Law, Policy and Governance. Mr. Shailesh Gandhi, Former Central Information Commissioner, RTI Activist was the Chief Guest for the inaugural Session. Prof. G.S. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, RGNUL; Prof. Anand Pawar, Registrar, Prof. Naresh Kumar Vats, Dean Academics and Dr. Varun Chhachhar, Associate Professor, University of Lucknow were present on the occasion. Prof. G.S. Bajpai emphasized on the importance of RTI in improving accountability of the administration in his welcome address. "There is significant connection between people's right to know and the quality of administration," he said.

Mr. Shailesh Gandhi deliberated on the role of RTI in empowering the citizens. He said, "Proper flow of information is essential for formulating sound policies. Governance becomes more effective with public participation. Awareness about the right to know relevant information about government prevents system from degeneration." Book titled Changing Paradigm of Right to Information Law was released during one-day Conference-cum- Workshop on RTI. Prof. Anand Pawar extended a vote of thanks.

50 papers were presented during the Conference.
