Actor Ranveer Singh has approached the Karnataka High Court challenging an FIR registered against him over his mimicry of a character in 'Kantara: Chapter 1'.

The matter was mentioned on Monday (February 23) before Justice M Nagaprasanna for urgent listing wherein the counsel for the petitioner submitted, "The petitioner is a Bollywood actor. His honest appreciation of Kantara Chapter 1...is given a criminal colour". He submitted that the complainant in the FIR is an advocate.

When the counsel requested that the matter be listed at 2:30 today, the court orally said, "Why? Because it is Bollywood?...Tomorrow".

The court thereafter listed the matter for Tuesday.

As per news reports, the FIR was registered against Singh for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by mocking and insulting the sacred 'Daiva' (Bhoota Kola) tradition depicted in the movie.
