NSA Detainee MP Amritpal Singh Moves Punjab & Haryana High Court Seeking Parole To Attend Budget Session Of Parliament
Amritpal Singh, a sitting Member of the Parliament from Punjab's Khadoor Sahib constitutency, has approached the Punjab & Haryana High Court seeking parole to attend the upcoming Parliament Budget Session.
Amritpal is detained under the National Security Act and lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail.
The Budget Session of Parliament is to be convened in two phases ie. from 28th January, 2026 to 13th February, 2026 and thereafter, from 9th March, 2026 to 2nd April, 2026. Singh seeks suitable arrangements for his personal attendance at the Parliament for the above mentioned period.
The plea filed by Advocate Imaan Khara states that Singh wants to represent the people of his constituency before the Parliament and highlight various issues faced by them, including rampant rise of drug abuse, infrastructure developmental issues, etc.
Significant to note that Singh had in the previous session too, sought parole to to attend the Winter Session of Parliament. However, his plea was rendered "infructuous” as the session got over before conclusion of arguments in the matter.
