Justice Manjusha Deshpande Sworn-In As Permanent Judge Of Bombay High Court
Justice Manjusha Deshpande was sworn-in as a permanent judge of the Bombay High Court on Monday (May 4).
The oath was administered by Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar.
On April 14, Supreme Court collegium had recommended permanent appointment for Justice Deshpande, who was an additional judge of the high court. On April 24, Central Government notified her permanent appointment.
Justice Deshpande was appointed on August 11, 2023 as an Additional Judge of the High Court for two years. However, in August 2025, she was not recommended for Permanent post and instead was given a year's extension, which was to end this August.
Born on October 27, 1968 at Aurangabad, Justice Deshpande has done her schooling in St. Francis De Sales High School, Aurangabad. She completed her five year law course in Manikchand Pahade Law College at Aurangabad and completed law in the year 1991. She stood first in the order of merit in the then Marathwada University.
After getting her degree, Justice Deshpande enrolled herself in the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa on September 13, 1991 and joined office of late senior advocate Prabhakarrao Deshmukh and since then practiced in the High Court Bench at Aurangbad.
During her career as an Advocate, she dealt with various civil, criminal and constitutional matters, more particularly, service matters. She was appointed as an Assistant Government Pleader/Additional Public Prosecutor in the High Court Bench at Aurangabad in October 2013 and was promoted as an Additional Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor in the High Court at Aurangabad in October 2015.
Justice Deshpande has been on the POSH panel in various organisations including the High Court.
