Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi Sworn-In As Chief Justice Of Bombay High Court

Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi on Wednesday (September 9) took oath of the office of Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.

Justice Tripathi, the senior-most judge of the Allahabad High Court was recommended for the post of Bombay High Court's Chief Justice, by the Supreme Court collegium, last month.

Justice Tripathi was administered the oath of office by Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Verma in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar and few cabinet ministers. Also present for the oath ceremony were all the judges of the Bombay High Court sitting at the principal seat.

Justice Tripathi graduated in Law from Lucknow University in 1990 and enrolled as an Advocate on January 11, 1992. He practised mainly on Civil side and was the Additional Chief Standing Counsel, State of Uttar Pradesh since October 2007. He was elevated as the Additional Judge on September 27, 2013 and was made a Permanent Judge on April 10, 2015.

Justice Tripathi is due to retire on June 20, 2028.
