Kerala High Court To Hear Defacto Complainant In MLA Rahul Mamkootathil's Plea For Anticipatory Bail In Rape Case

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday (January 7) allowed the impleading petition filed by the de facto complainant in the anticipatory bail plea of Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil in the rape and miscarriage case alleged against him.
Justice A. Badharudeen allowed the de facto complainant's petition and extended the interim protection granted to Mamkootathil. The case is posted to January 21 for consideration.
Mamkootathil is arrayed as the 1st accused in a crime registered by the Nemom Police and is accused of the offences under the Sections 64(2)(f), 64(2)(h), 64(2)(m) [Rape], 89 [Causing miscarriage without woman's consent], 115(2) [Voluntarily causing hurt], 351(3) [Criminal intimidation], 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 66(E) of the Information Technology Act [Punishment for violation of privacy].
After his plea before the Principal District and Sessions Court, Thiruvananthapuram was dismissed, he had moved the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail.
The High Court had granted him interim protection from arrest last month. Last week, the Thiruvananthapuram Sessions Court had granted anticipatory bail to his co-accused.
