Tamil Nadu Advocate General PS Raman has resigned from his post. Raman was appointed as the State's AG on 12th January, 2024, following the resignation of senior advocate R Shunmugasundaram.

Raman's resignation comes in light of the formation of a new government in the State. It may be noted that actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party had secured the highest number of votes in the recently concluded Legislative Assembly elections and has formed the government in the state.

Born in 1960, PS Raman is the son of late VP Raman, who was also the former Advocate General of Tamil Nadu and Additional Solicitor General of India. PS Raman has 39 years standing at the bar handling constitutional, civil, criminal, commercial, property laws , indirect tax, and intellectual property rights matters.

This was the second time that Raman was appointed as the Advocate General of the State. In 2009, he was appointed as the Advocate General at a young age of 49 years, making him the second youngest person to adorn the office, the youngest being his father who was appointed at the age of 46 years. Raman continued in office till 2011 when he resigned following a change in the government.
