The Executive Committee of the Consortium of National Law Universities has decided to postpone the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2020 until further notice. A new date will be announced later.

CLAT 2020 was scheduled to be held on August 22, 2020, through a "computer-based, online, centre-based" test.  The Executive Committee of the Consortium had earlier taken this decision after reviewing the impact of the lockdowns and other restrictions arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier today, the Delhi High Court had issued notices on a law graduate's plea impugning the CLAT-2020 notification, in so far as it mandates physical presence of the students at the examination center.

Last week, the Supreme Court had dismissed a petition which challenged the conduct of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) via online mode, citing accessibility issues.

The exam was originally going to be held on May 10, and was postponed to May 24. Due to the extension of the national lockdown, it was again scheduled to be held on June 21. The consortium, in view of the continuing pandemic issues, again changed the date to August 22.
