As per reports, Additional Solicitor General L Nageswara Rao wrote a letter to the Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and tendered his resignation as ASG. However, he did not mention any reason for him resigning from the post.

Reportedly, he did say that he had good relations with all the law officers. He was appointed as ASG by the NDA government on June 7, with a term of three years being given to him.

Mr. Rao had earlier been ASG during the UPA II, from August 2013 to May 2014. He was also an ASG during the previous NDA regime, and held office from 2003 up to his resignation in 2004.
