    The Research Centre for Consumer and Competition Laws of Hidayatullah National Law University hosted an online discussion on 30th of September, 2023 at 6.00 P.M. It was held under the aegis of Ex Arca digital platform. Mr. Toshit Shandilya, Partner (Competition), AZB & Partners delivered the address on the topic ‘Competition Law in Digital Economy - A Future Roadmap for India’.

    The rapid growth of the digital economy has presented numerous opportunities and challenges for businesses and consumers alike. As technology continues to reshape various industries, questions arise about the adequacy of existing competition laws in addressing the unique dynamics of the digital marketplace. Mr. Shandilya highlighted the need for regulation of competition in a digital economy. While emphasizing commendable regulation by Indian regulators, he also discussed the importance of Ex Ante regulation of competition. Whereas, the session also delved into the consequences for end consumers and how their welfare is considered a priority.

    The opening remarks were delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Yogendra K. Srivastava and a vote of thanks by Mr. Mayank Shrivastava, Assistant Professor, HNLU. The session was anchored by Mr Amitesh Deshmukh, Assistant Professor and Head, Centre for Consumer and Competition Law (C3L), HNLU.

    The session was attended by close to 100 participants, students, faculties, competition law enthusiasts, and advocates across the country.
