A complaint has been filed with the Bengaluru police seeking to take strict action and to block the circulation of an alleged objectionable video apparently featuring former Union Minister, D V Sadananda Gowda.

The complaint submitted to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner and other police officers by one Thamme Gowda M, prays the police to take suitable action against the wrongdoers strictly in accordance with law and protect the image of Sadananda Gowda.

Gowda himself wrote on twitter that "Malefactors, who are upset by my rise on the political front, have brought out a fake, lewd video of mine for my fall. The video has become viral on social media, which pains me."

It may be noted that a city civil and sessions court on June 30, had on a suit filed by Gowda restrained 70 media publications from publishing, circulating false, baseless and reckless news items against him in their respective media, by issuing an ex-parte ad-interim temporary injunction order.

Gowda in his plea before the civil court had claimed that "He is a reputed person who served as Chief Minister of Karnataka State Party President, also holding various portfolios in the Union Ministry, now holding the portfolio of the Union Cabinet. Such being the facts defendants herein have started publishing false and frivolous news items and are making reckless allegations against the plaintiff without there being any justification or documentary evidence to support their statements."

Further, "The act of the defendants is causing damage to the reputation of the plaintiff and it adversely affects the close associates of the plaintiff and his family members so also it will affect badly on his political carrier, he has also posed apprehension that some persons are intending to take benefit of such reckless statements published by the defendants in their media thereby trying to create an uncomfortable environment and wants to remove the plaintiff from his portfolio."

The plea also said, "The act of the defendants is illegal; they are doing it under the guise of Freedom of expression. No doubt the defendants are entitled for freedom of speech and expression, meantime they have no right to cause damage to the image of the plaintiff. Therefore, it is just and necessary to restrain the defendants from publishing, circulating any defamatory statement or the statements which humiliate and harass the plaintiff in the eyes of the general public by way of ex-parte ad-interim temporary injunction."

The complaint to the police states that politically motivated, fake fabricated and concocted video has been made by making use of our MP Sri D V Sadananda Gowda. The same is being circulated on social media and Facebook and has asked the police to ensure that it is taken down. The said creation of the video is only to tarnish his image. The same is politically motivated. The said video came to be created by way of impersonation.

It may be recalled that earlier, six other Karnataka ministers had approached a Bengaluru court to stop publishing and circulation of some 'fake' videos that they said featured them. Former Karnataka Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi had resigned after such an alleged video featuring him had surfaced.
