    The National Indian Student and Alumni Union (NISAU), UK recently announced the winners of its India-UK Achiever's award, and the list features six Indian lawyers for their contributions to the field of law.

    The Achiever's award was presented to 75 Indian students and alumni, who had pursued a British programme of study, and have gone on to achieve excellence in their field, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India's independence and India-UK educational ties as part of the initiative by NISAU in partnership with the British Council in India.

    The following are the winners under the category of "Law":

    Menaka Guruswamy has been conferred the title of outstanding achiever in the category of "Law" awardees. Guruswamy, a Senior Advocate practising at the Supreme Court of India, has played a significant role in several landmark cases and was featured as one of the TIME's 100 most influential people in the world for her work in spearheading the historic battle for LGBTQ rights in India. 

    Arghya Sengupta is the Founder and Research Director of the national policy think-tank, Vidhi, and author of "Independence and Accountability of the Indian Higher Judiciary."

    Dr. Chintan Chandrachud is a barrister at Brick Court Chambers, London and the author of "The Cases that India Forgot" and "Balanced Constitutionalism: Courts and Legislatures in India and the United Kingdom."

    Gunjan Singh is an Indian attorney specialising in Human Rights law for over eight years and a recipient of the Chevening Scholarship.

    Krishna Omkar is a corporate lawyer by background, who has quarterbacked some of the most complex and high-value M&A deals of recent years, spanning 60+ jurisdictions and USD $200 billion+ in total value. 

    Shreeyash Uday Lalit is an advocate practising in the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts and other fora. Following his LLB education from Delhi University, he went on to complete his LLM from the University of Cambridge in 2017-18 as a Tata Trust, Narottam Sekhsaria, Trust and Pegasus Scholar.
