The Delhi High Court has granted 15 days' interim bail to an accused in a dowry death case to enable him to secure his daughter's school admission.

Justice Girish Kathpalia allowed the plea filed by the accused, Rihan Khan @ Dulare, who is facing charges under Sections 498A, 304B, 120B, 313, and 511 of the IPC along with Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

The interim relief was sought specifically to facilitate his daughter's admission process.

The Court noted that the child is currently residing with her grandparents and that the admission process has already commenced. It was submitted before the Court that the admission could be completed within 10–15 days.

The prosecution stated that it had no serious objection to the grant of interim bail, provided the accused does not seek to prolong the relief repeatedly.

Taking note of the limited purpose and timeframe, the Court allowed interim bail for 15 days from the date of release, subject to furnishing a personal bond of ₹10,000 with one surety of the like amount to the satisfaction of the trial court.

Importantly, the Court made it clear that no request for extension of the interim bail would be entertained.
