Parliament Security Breach Conspiracy Planned Since Last Two Years, Accused Wanted To Create Anarchy: Delhi Police To Court

The Delhi Police on Saturday told a Delhi Court that the conspiracy behind the recent security breach in the Parliament was planned since last two years.

Public Prosecutor Akhand Pratap Singh told Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur that the accused persons wanted to create a situation of anarchy in the country to compel the government to meet their “illegal demands.”

The submissions were made as the sixth accused, Mahesh Kumawat, was produced in the Patiala House Courts after his arrest.

While the Delhi Police sought 15 days of police custody for Kumawat, the court remanded him to seven days of police custody.

The Public Prosecutor told court that Kumawat was involved in destroying the digital evidence with co accused Lalit Jha.

He further said that Mahesh was associated with the other co-accused persons since last two years and also attended the meeting held between them.

On the other hand, the legal aid counsel appearing for Kumawat opposed the 15 days of police remand on the ground that the accused was not informed about the grounds of arrest.

Earlier, the court remanded five co-accused persons, Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Neelam Verma, Amol Shinde and Lalit Jha, to seven days of police remand.

In a major security breach on the anniversary of 2001 Parliament terror attack yesterday, two persons jumped into the chamber of Lok Sabha from the public gallery when the Zero Hour was in session. The duo was identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D.

In the photographs and videos that surfaced on social media, the two were seen holding canisters which released yellow gas. They were also shouting slogans. However, they were overpowered by some of the Member of Parliaments (MPs).

Two other accused, identified as Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi, also sprayed coloured gas from similar canisters outside the premises of the Parliament. They were reportedly shouting "tanashahi nahi chalegi.”
