On Monday, Advocates Amitabh Kumar Rai and Rajiv Lochan Shukla took oath as judges of the Allahabad High Court, raising the number of sitting judges to 87, including the Chief Justice.

Their names were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium for elevation as judges of the High Court in March, 2025.

Last week, Advocate Arun Kumar also took oath as a judge of the Allahabad High Court.

Vide its meeting on 1st September, 2025, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended names of 14 judicial officers and 12 lawyers for appointment as Judges of the Allahabad High Court.
