Solicitor General Of India Mr. Ranjit Kumar has resigned from the post citing personal reasons. He was appointed by the NDA Government in 2014. In June, 2017, the Government has extended his term.

“I have resigned due to personal reasons. I am not being able to give time to my family,” Kumar told CNN-News18.

Earlier there were reports that the Supreme Court collegium was considering the name of Ranjit Kumar for elevation to the Supreme Court. Sources told LiveLaw that the  collegium is likely to meet on October 24.
