Competition Appellate Tribunal, empowered to hear appeals from the Competition Commission of India has finally got its new Chairman. Justice G S Singhvi, who retired from the Supreme Court in December 2013, is the new Chairman of the Tribunal as per its website.

The office of the Chairperson was vacant as Justice V S Sirpurkar, the previous Chairperson had retired in August. However, the Competition Appellate is still without its two members.

Reportedly, Justice Singhvicould also be appointed as the chairperson of the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority Appellate Tribunal.

Recently, Justice Singhvi was also appointed as an arbitrator in the Reliance-Government KG Basin arbitration dispute. Justice Singhvi had also authored the S. 377 judgment.
