The Lecture Series on Law group, at the Delhi High Court, consisting of over 200 lawyers, is organising a lecture-cum-group discussion on ‘Sexual Harassment at Work Place: Legal Issues Emerging from the #MeToo Movement’.

Date: December 6, 2018

Time: 4:30 PM

Venue: Central Hall, Ground Floor, Main Building, Delhi High Court

The Hon'ble Chief Justice, Sh. Rajender Menon, High Court of Delhi, has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest. The welcome address will be delivered by Sh. Kriti Uppal, Senior Advocate, President of the Delhi High Court Bar Association.

Speakers:

  • Hon'ble Ms. Justice Hima Kohli, Chairperson DHC Prevention of Sexual Harassment Committee

  • Indira Jaising, Senior Advocate

  • Geeta Luthra, Senior Advocate

  • Thank you note by Sh. Inderbir Alag, Senior Advocate

The lecture will be followed by high tea at the Lawyers’ Canteen, Delhi High Court.

The topic assumes significance since lawyers are not only engaged with this issue because to make our courts sexual-harassment free and gender sensitive, but they also represent complainants and the accused people.

This movement has brought into the courtrooms and public domain things that were only acknowledged and whispered in secrecy. And therefore the consequences of this movement, that has seen thousands of allegations by both men and women of sexual harassment against very powerful people, have raised many legal issues of both substantive and procedural law. The lecture aims to initiate debate and discussion regarding the same.
