    The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) conducted the National Lok Adalat on 14 July, disposing of 10,309 cases in total. The settlement amount involved in the exercise was approximately Rs. 37.20 crores.

    The Lok Adalats, under the guidance of DSLSA’s Executive Chairperson Chief Justice Gita Mittal, were organised in all 11 Districts of Delhi, and were presided over by the Judges/ Retired Judges of District Courts, Delhi along with Associate Members.

    The Lok Adalats were held for all civil, criminal, and motor accident claim tribunal matters which had an element of settlement in them. Elaborating on the number of cases taken up on Saturday, an official release stated,

    “It is pertinent to mention here that out of the aforesaid data, 236 cases of MACT were settled for which Lok Adalat Benches of all districts of Delhi were constituted at Patiala House Courts, New Delhi and the settlement amount was Rs. 18.77 Crore.

    The Lok Adalats were also organised in Delhi High Court wherein 20 cases were disposed of and settlement amount was Rs. 1.27 Crore.

    The Lok Adalats were also organised in District Consumer Forums where 105 cases were settled and settlement amount was Rs. 4.97 Crore.

    Moreover, the Lok Adalats were also organised in Debt Recovery Tribunals.  In three DRTs total 17 cases were settled and settlement amount was Rs. 8.70 Crore.”
