Principal Bench of National Green Tribunal has directed a joint Committee of Divisional Forest Officer, Hisar, Municipal Corporation, Hisar and the State PCB furnish a factual and action taken report within one month. In response to a petition filed alleging that concretization around the trees is obstructing growth and existence of trees, resulting in uprooting of trees during mild storms. Trees are unable to absorb water and breathe.

A bench led by Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel gave the direction while hearing a petition filed by Jago India Jago (NGO) Through its Founder. The applicant relied upon order of this Tribunal order dated 01.02.2019 in O.A. No. 593/2018, P.Edwin Wilson v. The State of Tamil Nadu & Ors. and also guidelines issued by the Urban Development Department, Government of India. It is further stated that in reply to RTI query it was informed that the Corporation had spent more than Rs. 2 Crores on interlocking tiles on the edge of the road, which corroborates allegation of the applicant.

The Tribunal will hear the plea on February 27, 2020
