About SAMA: The Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, in conjunction with SAMA as technology facilitator, is organising an Online Lok Adalat tentative to be held from 25th April - 15th May. It's worth noting that DE JURE (Data and Evidence for justice reform, part of the World Bank Group) is closely working with Sama as a knowledge partner to evaluate the effectiveness of Online Lok Adalats in India and conduct an impact assessment of this project on all stakeholders. During Indian Mediation Week 2021, Minister of Law and Justice, Government of India, Mr. Kiren Rijiju, appreciated the work done by Sama Neutrals (Mediators & Arbitrators) and Case Managers to promote Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) in India! Click here to watch the video. Who can apply as a Mediator? Practicing advocates, Accredited and experienced Mediators, who can devote time and dedication to the access to justice cause. Applicants who are fluent in Marathi or Hindi will be preferred and must possess a laptop with stable internet connection.The 3-week commitment is expected to commence on April 25th, 2022 for Mediators. Who can apply as a Case Manager? - All Law Students, recent graduates, practicing Advocates, who can devote time and dedication to the access to justice cause. - Applicants who are fluent in Marathi or Hindi will be preferred and must possess a laptop with stable internet connection. - The 3-week commitment is expected to commence on April 25th, 2022 for Case Managers. Note: Mediators and case manager positions will be allotted to applicants on a first-come-first-serve-basis taking their responses into consideration. Work Description: Mediators and Case Managers will be required to work on matters involving loans, family disputes, Bank Matters, Motor Accident Claims, Cheque Bounce cases etc.Case Managers will be required to coordinate between Mediators and Litigants. Please note that only those Mediators will be empanelled for this project, who have :- previously taken up Mediation/Conciliation cases, orHave been practicing in Court, orAre an accredited mediator. Incentives: Top Three Mediators from this Maharashtra Online Lok Adalat will be rewarded with cash prizes of Rs. 15,000, Rs. 9,000 and Rs 6,000 respectively.Top Three Case Managers will be rewarded with cash prizes of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000.Case Managers and Mediators will be provided with recognition certificates at the end of this project.Top- performing Case managers and Core Managers will be given a chance to be a part of the core team in the next Online Lok Adalat.They'll also get an opportunity to work on Private cases filed on sama.
