The High Court of Gujarat, in collaboration with the Gujarat State Judicial Academy (GSJA), is set to organize a two-day Annual Conference of Judges of the District Judiciary on the theme “Re-shaping Dispensation of Justice – Transcending the Narratives” on April 4 and 5, 2026, at the Gujarat High Court Auditorium, Ahmedabad.
The inaugural session will be graced by Justice Vikram Nath, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, as the Chief Guest. Justice N. V. Anjaria and Justice Vipul M. Pancholi, Judges of the Supreme Court of India, will also be present and address the gathering. The Chief Justice of the High Court of Gujarat, Justice Sunita Agarwal, along with Justice A. Y. Kogje, Justice A. S. Supehia, Justice Bhargav D. Karia, and other companion judges of the High Court, will participate in the inaugural session and conduct the technical sessions.
The conference is conceived as a statewide institutional dialogue aimed at enhancing the quality, efficiency, and accountability of justice delivery. It will be conducted in a hybrid mode, with approximately 575 judicial officers attending physically at the High Court Auditorium, while others will participate virtually from their respective district headquarters.
A notable feature of the conference is the participation of 103 newly appointed Civil Judges on April 4, 2026, providing them with an opportunity for orientation and exposure to judicial policymaking. The conference will also witness the launch of several key initiatives, including:
AI Policy for the Gujarat Judiciary
Free e-Certified Copy facility for the High Court of Gujarat
Community Mediation Initiative for the Trading Community of GSLSA
Release of the Annual Report – 2025 of the Gujarat State Judicial Academy
The conference will include a series of technical sessions addressing both policy-level considerations and practical challenges in justice delivery. The first session will focus on the AI policy and the use of digital tools to enhance efficiency, transparency, and timelines in judicial functioning.
The second session, titled “Effective Dispensation of Justice – A Societal Perspective,” will examine evolving public expectations and emphasize the need for a more accessible and responsive judiciary.
The third session, titled “Transcending the Narrative,” will explore ground realities and discuss strategies for strengthening the justice delivery system.
The conference will conclude with a roadmap and key takeaways delivered by the Chief Justice and other members of the panel, aimed at further improving judicial administration in the State.
