DSLSA Organizes Educational And Vocational Fair For Children In Conflict With Law

In a step towards the rehabilitation and social reintegration of children in conflict with law (CCL), the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) organized an Educational and Vocational Fair at Observation Home-II, Adharshila Complex, Sewa Kutir, Delhi on 30th August, 2025. The initiative was aimed at creating opportunities for skill development, education, sports, and awareness about legal rights, while promoting growth and reintegration into mainstream society. The event was graced by Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Chief Justice of Delhi High Court & Patron-in-Chief, DSLSA; Justice V. Kameswar Rao, Judge, Delhi High Court & Executive Chairman, DSLSA; Justice Jyoti Singh, Judge, Delhi High Court & Chairperson, Juvenile Justice Committee; along with Principal District and Sessions Judges from all districts, and Secretaries of DSLSA and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs). Thereafter, the dignitaries conducted the inspection of canopies, observing the arrangements and interacting briefly with representatives from various participating institutions. In his keynote,. Justice V. Kameswar Rao, Executive Chairman, DSLSA, highlighted the pillars of the initiative: developing discipline, self-confidence, and teamwork through sports, providing educational opportunities, offering vocational training in hospitality, retail, computer, and technical skills, and delivering awareness, counselling, and mental health support for drug prevention. He encouraged the children to have faith, embrace learning, leave the past behind, and use the opportunities presented by such initiatives to build a bright future. Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Chief Justice of Delhi High Court & Patron in-Chief, DSLSA, addressed the children and urged them to consider him as their friend. He encouraged them to view the event as a platform for inspiration and a chance to reintegrate into mainstream society. The Chief Justice emphasized that children are not solely responsible for past mistakes, as social circumstances often play a significant role. He appreciated DSLSA for bringing multiple stakeholders together under one roof for the welfare of the children and stressed that such events should continue in the future, empowering children with skills, education, and confidence. He motivated the children to take this opportunity seriously, learn from the event, and work towards a positive future.Ms. Rashmi Singh, Secretary, Department of Women & Child Development (DWCD), Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD), delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders. Following this, a friendly cricket match among the children was organized, reinforcing the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and active participation. The children engaged in batches with representatives from various Skill Sector Councils, Tata STRIVE, the Department of Education, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD), and YUVA Mukti Munch, exploring a educational and vocational opportunities. They showed interest in areas such as FICSI – Food Sector Skill Council (19 children), State Urban Livelihoods Mission, Delhi (3 children), Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (9 children), Handicrafts and Carpet Sector Skill Council (6 children), Media and Entertainment Skill Council (8 children), IT-ITes Sector Skill Council (5 children), Capital Goods Skills Council (7 children), Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Skills Council (17 children), FFSC – Furniture and Fitting Skill Council (37 children), Water Management and Plumbing Skill Council (25 children), Logistics Sector Skills Council (1 child), Apparel Made-Ups Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (18 children), Skill Council for Green Jobs (4 children), Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council (23 children), Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (12 children), Pottery Product Display (16 children), National Book Trust, India (7 children), and Legal Aid Help Desk (DSLSA) (3 children). In total, 220 children participated, demonstrating interest in various avenues for learning, skill development, and career growth. Constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) ensures access to justice for marginalized and vulnerable sections of society. Beyond providing free and competent legal services, DSLSA implements innovative programs for social reintegration, education, and skill development.
