High Court Of Chhattisgarh Commemorates 25 Years Of Judicial Service

The Chhattisgarh High Court today, on 27th September 2025, celebrated its 25th Anniversary by organizing a Silver Jubilee function, marking a milestone of 25 years of dedicated service to Justice, Constitutional values, and the rule of Law. The celebration highlighted the Court's journey from its establishment to becoming a pillar of the judicial system of the State. The event was held at the premises of the High Court of Chhattisgarh. The occasion attended by Shri Ramen Deka, Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Justice J.K. Maheshwari, Judge, Supreme Court of India, Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, Judge, Supreme Court of India, Shri Tokhan Sahu, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh, Justice Yatindra Singh, Former Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court, Justice M.M. Shrivastava, Chief Justice of Madras High Court, Justice P. Sam Koshy, Judge High Court of Telangana, Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal, Justice Sanjay Agrawal, Justice Parth Prateem Sahu, Justice Rajani Dubey, Justice Narendra Kumar Vyas, Justice Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi, Justice Deepak Kumar Tiwari, Justice Sachin Singh Rajput, Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey, Justice Radhakishan Agrawal, Justice Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal, Justice Ravindra Kumar Agrawal, Justice Arvind Kumar Verma, Justice Bibhu Datta Guru, Justice Amitendra Kishore Prasad, Judge High Court of Chhattisgarh, former Judges of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, Shri Arun Sao and Shri Vijay Sharma, Deputy Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh, Shri O.P. Choudhary, Finance Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Gajendra Yadav, Minister of Law & Legislative Affairs, Shri Ramesh Bais, Former Governor, Shri Amar Agrawal, MLA Bilaspur, and Shri Dharamlal Kaushik, MLA Bilha, among others. In his welcome address, Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh, stated that this Silver Jubilee is not only a celebration of 25 years of Judicial service but also recognition of the achievements of these years. The High Court has reduced pendency of cases through its administration, strengthened judicial infrastructure, and enhanced Justice delivery, providing direct measures for quality justice and meeting Public needs. This achievement is a symbol of the High Court's commitment to excellence and reform. Union Minister of State for Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Tokhan Sahu, in his address, said that celebrating the Silver Jubilee of the High Court is not just about 25 years of journey, but about honoring the judicial tradition that has safeguarded our Constitution and democracy. For the last 25 years, work has been done to make justice accessible to the common people and to strengthen them judicially. Before the establishment of the Chhattisgarh High Court, citizens had to make long and exhausting journeys to the M.P High Court at Jabalpur to protect their rights and seek Justice. This geographical and economic difficulty was a major obstacle, particularly for tribal communities. The 19th High Court of the country equipped with modern facilities. Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, Judge, Supreme Court of India, in his special address, said that for him, this High Court is not just an institution but like a guardian. Having been born and educated in Raigarh and having made Bilaspur his workplace, he served there as an Advocate, Judge, and Acting Chief Justice. The Chhattisgarh High Court holds a place in his legal journey. It was a honor for him to be present on such occasion. On 1st November, 25 years ago, the Chhattisgarh High Court was established with the objective of providing Justice with greater accountability and local sensitivity. It started with a Chief Justice and two Judges and today has expanded to 22 Judges with a Judicial complex. This building is not only a physical structure but a symbol of rights, impartiality, and Justice. Its advanced technology, modern infrastructure, digitized record rooms, and effective case management systems reflect extraordinary progress and steadfast commitment to Judicial administration. Justice J.K. Maheshwari, Judge, Supreme Court of India, expressed his long-standing attachment to Chhattisgarh. With the formation of the state on 1st November 2000, the High Court was also established. Today's Silver Jubilee is an occasion to remember all those who contributed to this institution and to reflect on thevision and plans for the next 25 years. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, in his address, said that the High Court has given a new identity to Bilaspur, which is now known as the “Judicial Capital.” With the establishment of the High Court, new opportunities opened up for the youth to build careers in the field of law.
