Young Lawyers Set To Battle For Glory At Justice Siri Jagan Memorial Legal Quiz Competition

The Kollam Bar Association, in collaboration with the Panampilly Academy for Continuing Legal Education, is set to host the prestigious Justice Siri Jagan Memorial All Kerala Legal Quiz Competition. Scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the NSS Auditorium, Anandavalleswaram, Kollam, this event serves as a high-stakes academic tribute to the late Justice Siri Jagan.
The competition is designed to sharpen the legal acumen of the next generation of advocates, specifically targeting lawyers with less than nine years of standing at the Bar.
High-Profile Leadership & Mentorship
The academic integrity of the quiz is overseen by a panel of distinguished jurists:
Controller (Academics): Mr. Justice Pius C. Kuriakose (Former Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim).
Quiz Masters: Mr. Justice Sunil Thomas (Judicial Member, CAT) and Mr. Justice A.M. Babu (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India).
Prize Pool & Recognition
Participants will compete for a substantial prize pool and significant professional recognition:
Winners: ₹25,000 and Trophy.
Runners Up: ₹20,000 and Trophy.
Second Runners Up: ₹15,000 and Trophy.
Special Awards: ₹25,000 for the Best All-round Performer and ₹20,000 for the Second Best.
Consolation Prizes: ₹10,000 each for the top 10 teams, sponsored by eminent legal families and advocates.
Competition Format & Syllabus
The quiz features a rigorous format where teams of two represent their respective Bar Associations.
The Passing Rule: Fresh questions earn two points (20-second limit), while passed-over questions earn one point (5-second limit).
Comprehensive Syllabus: Covers a vast range of statutes, including the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, alongside traditional civil, criminal, and personal laws.
Event Schedule & Registration
The day will conclude with a Valedictory Function at 4:00 PM, featuring a Valedictory address and memorial speech by Hon'ble Justice Cyriac Joseph (Former Judge, Supreme Court of India) and keynote address by Adv. K. Gopalakrishna Kurup (Advocate General of Kerala).

Inaugural Address: 10:00 AM by Justice Pius Kuriakose.
