NALSA To Conduct 3rd National Lok Adalat Of 2025 On 13th September Across India

The 3rd National Lok Adalat of the year 2025 will be conducted across the country on 13th September 2025 by the legal services authorities under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the esteemed stewardship of Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai, Chief Justice of India and Patron-in-Chief, NALSA, and Justice Surya Kant, Judge, Supreme Court of India and Executive Chairman of NALSA. The Lok Adalat will be organized simultaneously in all States and Union Territories, except Rajasthan, where it will be conducted in October 2025 due to the ongoing Mediation for the Nation campaign in the State. Established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, and guided by the National Legal Services Authority (Lok Adalats) Regulations, 2009, Lok Adalats serve as a cornerstone of India's alternative dispute resolution framework. They provide an expeditious, economical, and effective mechanism for the amicable settlement of disputes. The awards passed by Lok Adalats carry statutory recognition and are binding on the parties. The National Lok Adalat plays a role in reducing the burden on regular courts by offering litigants an accessible forum for resolving pre-litigation and pending cases. These include criminal compoundable offences, traffic challans, plea bargaining, revenue matters, bank recovery cases, motor accident claims, cheque dishonour cases, labour disputes, matrimonial disputes (excluding divorce cases), land acquisition cases, intellectual property rights (IPR) matters, consumer cases, and other civil disputes. The outcomes of recent Lok Adalats highlight their growing effectiveness. In the 1st National Lok Adalat of 2025, 3.09 crore cases were settled nationwide, while the 2nd National Lok Adalat of 2025 achieved an even higher disposal of 3.23 crore cases. The upcoming 3rd National Lok Adalat of 2025 will once again serve as an inclusive and effective platform for settlement, reflecting NALSA's commitment to ensuring access to justice that is equitable, timely and affordable for all citizens.
