Law Commission of India Chairman Justice Dr BS Chouhan on Friday said that fair investigation is a part of Fundamental Rights under Articles 20 and 21 of the Constitution of India and for this reason the investigation must be fair, transparent and judicious.

He was delivering the 15th lecture of the Lecture Series initiated by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) on "Fair Investigation & Trail and Disciplinary Proceedings".

He also said that cross examination of witnesses is an integral part of the principle of natural justice and evidence recorded behind the back of the delinquent cannot be relied upon.

Central Vigilance Commissioner KV Chowdary said that the CVC has recently embarked upon an outreach programme that includes going to schools and colleges and other forum to create awareness among the people on how they can contribute in checking corruption.
