The Gujarat National Law University in partnership with the Union Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and the Government of Gujarat recently played host to delegates from more than 45 countries for the Youth PravasiBharatiya Divas 2015 celebrations. GNLU students were taken in the Organizing Committee of this mega event and provided both logistical as well as research support to this mega event.

The PravasiBharatiya Divas is being celebrated every year since year-2003 in memory of Mahatma Gandhiji’s arrival to India from South Africa on January 9, 1915.

General VK Singh, Union Minister for External Affairs (State) was the chief guest for the Cultural program of the Youth PravasiBharatiya Divas held at GNLU.

Giving details of the preparations made for the celebration of the PBD, Gujarat’s Finance-Energy and Tourism Minister Mr. Saurabhbhai Patel said, the Gujarat has relived that century old historical day at  MahatmaMandir, the main venue of the PBD celebrations, and to fulfill Indian cultural tradition of offering ‘AtithiDevoBhavh’ (Guests are like Gods) treatments to all the NRI guests.

The Minister termed the occasion as to connect Indian diaspora’s knowledge and skill with the nation’s development.
