    The Gujarat High Court has come to the rescue of an elderly couple from Vaso village in Kheda District and has granted them interim relief against their son and daughter-in-law.

    According to a TOI report, the Petitioners, Mr. Shantilal Prajapati and Ms. Kamlaben Shantilal Prajapati have petitioned the High Court alleging that their son, Dharmendra has been misbehaving with them. The couple has further alleged that their son has usurped the house, rendering them homeless.

    The Petition has been filed highlighting the provisions of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

    Agreeing to hear them out, the Court, on Monday, directed the son and his wife to file an undertaking with the Court, “stating that they will not cause any harassment to the petitioners and shall continue to pay the maintenance as ordered by the authority”. The undertaking has been directed to be filed within a week.

    Justice Rajesh H. Shukla further directed, “The respondent nos. 2 and 3 are allowed to stay in part of the premises and they will allow the petitioners to stay in the said premises in three rooms, for which, undertaking will also specifically states that they will not cause any obstruction or harassment if the petitioners stay in the premises in three rooms.”
