    The Allahabad High Court has formed a team of five lawyers to study the skills and capabilities possessed by the convicts. The team must come with suggestions regarding reformative mechanism for the convicts.

    On the earlier occasion, the bench comprising Justice Attau Rahman Masoodi and Justice Brij Raj Singh had asked the Uttar Pradesh Government to study the concept of open jails, which are less strict, to serve the personal liberty of the convicts and to frame a scheme or proposal as may be just and proper to serve the cause.

    The jailor of Model Jail, Lucknow informed the Court that presently there are 232 convicts incarcerated in Model Jail, Lucknow who were all men from age of 25 years to 45 years.

    We should not be oblivious of the fact that the cluster of young people incarcerated in Model Jail, Lucknow may be possessed with the skills at variance, education and other capabilities of distinction, which may be utilised for their own self-sustenance and financial support to their families too,” observed the Court while directing the team of lawyers to undertake a detailed study of the skills and capabilities possessed by each convict so be able to come with reform mechanisms for them.

    The team consisting of Mr. Shikhar Srivastava, Mr. Akhand Vikram Singh, Mrs. Rani Singh (, Mr. Udit Singh, and Ms Anamika Singh have to prepare a report and place it before the next date of hearing.
