Andhra Pradesh High Court Grants Police Protection To Realme For Transferring Stock Amid Unrest At Manufacturing Facility

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has granted police protection to Realme Mobile Telecommunications for moving manufactured items from Wingtech Mobile Communications amid the protests and strikes at the latter company.The order was passed by Justice Dr. Venkata Jyothirmai Pratapa, in a writ petition filed by Realme. The court said:“Considering the submissions made, the concerned Station House Officer is directed to look into the representation made by the petitioners and attend their cause within a couple of days by taking appropriate steps, with necessary police personnel, to ensure that the stock is lifted from the company without any untoward incident. It is further clarified that the petitioners shall bear the expenditure.”The disruption stemmed from Wingtech's financial distress following a GST department attachment of its bank accounts in July 2025 for alleged dues of about ₹245 crore. Subsequent cash-flow constraints triggered worker protests and a blockade of the premises, despite Realme having fully paid Wingtech for manufacturing services.The petitioner contended that 11,000 finished smartphones and accessories, valued at more than thirty crores, were stored in Realme's leased premises inside the Tirupati plant of Wingtech Mobile and were being blocked due to the protests by workers. Thus, sought a writ directing the State authorities to provide “continuous, effective, adequate and meaningful police protection” to its employees, logistics contractors and vehicles to enable free ingress and egress for smooth transportation of the manufactured stock.Considering the facts of the case, the bench allowed the petition; however, it made it clear that any expense would be borne by the petitioners.
