Bombay High Court Says Recordings Of Live Streamed Videos Will Be Preserved Subject To Concerned Judge's Directive

The Bombay High Court on Monday notified that the records of the live streamed court proceedings will be preserved only on specific direction of a concerned judge presiding over a court.
The notification issued on November 10, states that the ongoing live streaming of the High Court proceedings is being done "only subject to consent of the Judge/Judges."
Further, it is stated that as per the Bombay High Court Rules for Live Streaming and Recording of Court Proceedings, 2025, the judges presiding over the concerned courts are designated as "Designated Officers" under Rule 7.3.
"These judges are only empowered to sanction access to copies of Live Streamed Recordings upon receipt of an application in the Form prescribed under Schedule III of the Rules," the notification reads.
The notification clarifies that the recordings of the live streamed court proceedings would be preserved only when there is a specific direction to do so by the concerned judge.
"It is also to inform that the storage and preservation of Live Streamed Recordings shall be undertaken only upon specific directions of the concerned Court in accordance with Rule 7.4 including specific directions for the duration of preservation i.e. whether six months or any other period deemed appropriate," the notification reads.
