'Stop Being So Sensitive': Bombay High Court Slams Influencer For Seeking FIR Against Farah Khan For Allegedly Hurting Hindu Sentiments

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday (July 15) slammed social media influencer Vikas Phatak aka Hindustani Bhau seeking registration of FIR against Bollywood filmmaker Farah Khan for allegedly hurting sentiments of Hindus, orally questioning if he had filed the plea to garner publicity. The court further orally asked the petitioner to stop being so sensitive and told him not to burden the Court, which already has a heavy board, with such issues.A division bench of Justices Ravindra Ghuge and Gautam Ankhad were hearing Phatak's plea for registration of FIR against Khan for allegedly saying "Holi is a festival of Chhapris."During the hearing the bench sought to know how the petitioner could be "hurt" by the comments made by Farah Khan. "Why are you so deeply hurt? Stop being so sensitive... We have more than 200 matters listed and you bring such matters to the court... For what? For publicity, to get your name in the headlines? Why to bring such issues to this Court? She has called Chhapri but you are not a Chhapri but you are a gentleman so why are you hurt?" Justice Ghuge orally remarked. Advocate Ali Kashif Khan Deshmukh appearing for the petitioner submitted that Khan's controversial statement was removed by the makers of the show. He said, "The channel, on which the show was aired and the line was used, has removed the said part after I filed a complaint on behalf of my client". J Ghuge at this stage said, "So that means, they have taken it down... People have forgotten it now. Why you want to pursue it... Why did you not go and register an FIR on your own why did you first send a complaint letter through your lawyer?". The court further told the advocate to "bring better causes to the court."After the bench expresses its inclination to reject the petition, the petitioner's counsel sought to withdraw the plea which was permitted. The court thereafter in a lighter vein orally said to petitioner's advocate, "On a lighter vein, your client must see channels like National Geography, Travel & Living etc... I can say that after watching such channels your client will be very happy".
