The Calcutta High Court has disposed of a plea filed by BJP leader and West Bengal Transport Minister Arjun Singh after the state police informed the Court that the FIRs challenged by him had already been closed following investigation.

Justice Saugata Bhattacharya took note of the State's submission that final closure reports had been filed in the cases.

Appearing for the State, Additional Government Pleader Suryaneel Das submitted before the Bench that the cases had been closed on the finding that the allegations were a “mistake of fact.”

“Lordship in all the ten cases final closure report has been filed, mistake of fact,” Das told the Bench.

In view of the State's submission that the police had already filed final closure reports, the Bench disposed of Singh's plea.

The plea had been moved by Singh challenging the criminal proceedings initiated against him through the FIRs in question.

The disposal of the plea comes after the State brought on record the subsequent development concerning the FIRs and informed the Court that the cases were no longer pending investigation. The Court accordingly disposed of the matter.
