The Delhi High Court on Wednesday (January 28) disposed of a PIL seeking adequate medical facilities in city's District Court Complexes, to provide emergency healthcare to stakeholders including lawyers, litigants and security personnel.

A division bench of Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia emphasized on the importance of issue raised and asked the Petitioner to approach the High Court on administrative side.

"We agree! Thank you for drawing out attention to this issue. We request you to approach the HC on administrative side where your concerns will be taken care of," the CJ told Advocate Vakul Sharad Sharma appearing for the Petitioner.

During the hearing, Sharma cited Centre's Jan Aarogya Mandir Scheme under Ayushman Bharat Yojana and prayed that such facility be established in all District Court complexes as well.

He further submitted that two Court complexes do have some facility of dispensary however, that doesn't appear to be sufficient and therefore sought the facility of Jan Aarogya Mandir, where all requisite medical systems and facilities may be made available.

"These courts have daily footfall of around 12,000 - 15,000 people. It includes litigants, senior citizens, women, police, undertrials..." Sharma urged.

He also told the bench that he had already made a representation to the Registry.

"Send one more...a more exhaustive one," the CJ then told him.

The Court finally ordered, "We permit the petitioner to make a representation in this regard to all authorities including the Registrar General of this court, within a fortnight. Once any such representation is made, the same shall be proceeded by all authorities in consultation with the High Court administration and appropriate decision and action will be warranted. Disposed of accordingly."
