The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, to implead in his defamation suit the individuals who have uploaded alleged objectionable content against him on social media.

Justice Amit Bansal allowed the application filed by Choudhary to prepone hearing in the matter which was otherwise listed on January 13, 2026.

While posting the matter for hearing on December 16, the Court said:

“The application is allowed. The date of hearing is advanced to December 16.”

Meanwhile, the Court asked counsel appearing for Meta Platforms to supply IP address and basic subscriber information details of the uploaders to Choudhary within three days.

“Let the plaintiff (Choudhary) take steps to implead the uploaders and serve an advance copy,” the Court said.

Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayyar appeared for Choudhary and requested that the offending material be taken down. He said that in the viral videos, Choudhary's face has been plastered along with a woman.

However, the Court asked Nayyar to implead the uploaders before ordering take down of any material, while noting that most of the defendants seemed to be news channels.

Earlier, Choudhary's counsel had informed the Court that the objectionable content with sexual undertones was uploaded on social media, over allegations that he has a relationship with a woman.

The Court was apprised that most of the impugned content dates back to two years, and that most of the URLs related to publications by news agencies.

The social media platforms, Google LLC and Meta Platforms, were asked to provide details of the Facebook pages and YouTube channels, who have uploaded the impugned content, to Choudhary.
